Description

My rendition of an adjustable balance wheel and cock stand for watch repair.

Parts used:
(2) 3 x 35mm bolts (1 for adjustment slide and one with head ground off for spike.
(1) 3 x 15mm bolt (attaches wheel support to base)
(1) 3mm locking nut (holds wheel support to base)
(1) T-nut for adjustment slide

I used a standard bench grinder (you could use a Dremel) to grind a point on one of the 35 mm bolts and used that as the cock support pin.
Screw the threaded end of the pin into the insert and let it stick out of the slot.
Insert the T-nut into the slot on the insert and then thread the other 35mm bolt into the hole in the side of the insert and into the T-net. I put a dab of grease on the bolt head. The bolt head is inserted into the recessed hole at an angle, and then the insert goes down into place. Press the cover in place (or glue).
Put the 15mm bolt in the support spindle and screw in into the base, and tighten it with a nut. I left the hole in the base small enough that you really don't need a nut in the base.

You can thread the cock support pin in or out a small bit for height adjustment. An easier solution is to print the wheel support spindle with different zoom levels ONLY in the Z direction to alter the height of the spindle to customize it to your liking.

I made this mainly for pocket watches so you might have to adjust things a bit for smaller watches.
