Description
Counterweight setup for the 6" f/5 bigbigspace.com telescope. The primary mirror box is ridiculously light on this scope build. Adding a counterweight into the process allows you to move it around significantly better when you're looking around.
You'll need to print the nut at 105% to make it fit (on a Snapmaker A350T). I needed to use wrenches to thread it the first time; after that the threads were set and it could be hand tightened. You'll want wrenches to cinch it down to the scope as well.
You'll need a counterweight with a 16mm hole in it and you'll need a 16" OD tube of whatever at least 6" to make it work. I used left over tubing from the build. The counterweights I used were for an Ioptron Smart EQ mount. A 1-lb counterweight is roughly $28 currently and readily available.
