Resin manufacturers recommend a build environment of 25°C - 30°C. Yet printer manufacturers have not made any progress towards providing a heated build volume. People have built weed growth tents that take up at least half a workbench.
This project aims to provide a heated build volume within the printer cover itself. This is a design for mounting heater fans inside the printer cover. The fans direct a constant flow of warm air at the resin vat and build plate.
Additional parts:
2x PTC Fan Air Heater 12v (60mm x 40mm)
1x 12v Digital Thermostat with probe W3230
1x Delay Relay Module XY-WJ01 (optional)
8x m4x15mm flathead machine screws and nuts.
Assembly:
- Make 2 fan mounts and 2 panel mounts.
- Install fans on fan mounts using their original screws.
- Measure offset from center of printer to center of resin vat.
- Mark the same offset from center of cover front to back.
- Place fan mount on top of cover offset to one side to account for the width of the print plate arm.
- Mark screw holes and drill. Measure, mark, and drill on the outside of cover; but install fans on inside of cover.
- Screw together the panel mounts on outside with the fan mounts on inside of cover.
- Drill additional hole to run sensor and wires.
Wiring:
- Connect only wires from the two heaters to the relay of the thermostat.
- Connect wires from the two fans to the same supply as the thermostat. This allows the fans to circulate air even when the heaters are switched off. This constant flow of air ensures an accurate reading of temperature in the build volume.
- Optional: Connect the fans and power input of the thermostat to the relay of the delay timer. This allows a automatic shutoff of the thermostat and fans.
Usage:
- Start with the print plate submerged in resin; this is usually the Home position.
- Let the resin warm up for a few minutes.
- Raise the print plate half way up.
- Let the print plate warm up before starting print.
