"Plow" for installing cable in corrugated split tubing

I use split corrugated tubing on cables to protect them from abrasion. Installing the tubing involves pushing the cable into a slit along the length of the tubing. This can be painful to fingers, as the edges are sharp, and the slit needs to be pried apart.

To make the job faster and less painful, I designed a “plow” that fits inside the tubing and spreads it for the cable to enter. The plow has a tilted and angled handle to grasp and pull along the tubing. The slit closes behind the plow and the inserted cable.

To use, insert the plow into the tubing so it spreads the slit. Lay the cable into the plow’s slot and pull the plow along the tubing with one hand. Use the other hand to hold the tubing/cable, and to push the cable into the tubing and close the slit.

This plow was designed for 3/8” inside-diameter tubing, but might work in 1/2” tubing as well. The slot in the plow accommodates cable up to 5/16” diameter. The handle is tilted and angled to give more clearance for the cable to lay into the slot.
