Description

A mech built specifically for close combat, the Edge Mech is favored by pilots who like to get intimate with their opponents. Armed with dual shield blades, this mech has seen good field performance in defensive situations as well as ambushes. Modified versions of this mech have also seen use in the technically illegal mech fighting arenas scattered across the globe.

The idea for this mech was really based around a bunch of unrelated mech part designs I had sitting around, finished off with parts from previous mechs. Think of it as kind of a parts pack for kitbashing.

While I am happy how the final mech came out, I fear that the design's origin may have led to a disjointed "Frankenstein's monster" when viewed by people who are not myself. Oh well, at least the designs get to see the light of day now.

I fear I'm starting to run out of ideas though, especially in the worldbuilding aspect. Hopefully the new Armored Core game will spark some inspiration in me when it comes out.

The Edge Mech was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing.

Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate).

3 millimeter ports on the arms, legs, and back allow for cross compatibility with most other model kit accessories.

I hope you enjoy. Please send feedback as I may create improved versions of the figure in the future.

Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
