Description
Hi,
The clips on my Recycle Box lids break when they get brittle during the winter.
The council cannot just replace the lids, and send out a new box and lid.
So ... as I do not want a whole load of empty brand-new plastic lidless boxes littering the garden, I designed (cough) a wrap-around replacement clip.
It fits a treat for the recycling boxes that are used here - Gloucestershire.
So may well work elsewhere too.
I have put some in the freezer to see if the PLA will hold when flexed, trying to simulate a frosty winter's day.
The initial design.... yeah.. OK I winged it... and altered it then winged it etc ... required some adhesive to stop the clip from falling off. But whence applied worked a treat. I used a Glue gun.
Version 2 - as here: I made it self-clipping (is that actually a term?)
NB: I will add photos etc laters.
If it saves Councils sending out a Box and a lid, just to replace a broken lid... Brill in my mind.
