What is this?
This is a modular Magic the Gathering deckbox. It is made for a 100-card Commander deck, double sleeved(not with resealable sleeves) and magnetic close.
The side compartment has room for 6 dice and a small space for whatever you may wanna store. I use it to store my whiteboard counters.
The side lid has an optional pen hanger bar as well.
It is also made to have near endless storage potential as you can add shelves to the bottom, as many as you wish. If you want, you can even use the included Fusion or STEP file to change the size of the drawer!

Hardware required:
- 2x M3x26 bolts with the heads cut off(for the spring loaded latches)
- EITHER 10x 8x3mm magnets(they are closer to 2.7 thick so the hole is 2.9, if your magnets are thicker than that, you may need to edit). Add 2 extra magnets per extra shelf
- OR 8x 8x3 and 4x 12x3mm magnets(same deal as 8mm, closer to 2.7 thick in reality)
- 2x 5.5x17.5mm springs (if you use much longer, it may be too strong, and shorter may not be strong enough. Cut your springs shorter if needed. Don't go much above 5.5 or it won't fit). This is for the spring loaded latches
- 3x M3x5 bolts, button heads are best but cylinder heads work too. This is to screw on the knobs. You can glue the knobs on if you want instead, then you don't need these bolts
- Two bits of 1.75mm filament for the hinges. I assume you have this on-hand already.
- Glue to attach the magnets, the pen rail and optionally the knobs. I use CT2 SuperFast construction superglue, just rough grit sand the surfaces a bit and the plastic breaks before the glue.
Why did I make this?
I was dissatisfied with all the deckboxes out there. Either they were too tricky to open, didn't keep closed or just didn't fit my deck.
As such, I set out to modify an existing one to fit my needs. That was many iterations ago and not much of the original is left.
On top of that, I always ended up carrying dice in an old plastic deckbox(until I dropped it, had to search a courtyard with rocks for all my dice and switched to an old sleeve box going forward), so I also wanted a box that could hold dice. But why stop there? Shelves were added then.
Someone also suggested I make the shelves replacable. I did that, insofar as I made the deckbox removable.
By now, this is a modular design with lots of freedom to roam and change.
I have included the Fusion file and a STEP file as I believe in open sharing.
Special credit
This entire design started with a flip lid deck box I wanted to modify for my own tastes.
While almost none of the original remains, I still feel I need to credit that original box.
