Early Model 1961-64 Chevrolet Corvair Air Conditioning Vent Assembly

This is an exact model of the super rare early model Corvair air conditioning vent assembly. Each part has been painstakingly measured and custom designed to match the original part with at most only about 3 millimeters of variance. Instructions

This download contains many STL files. Many of them you won't use but are included for those who need them. I did not include the radio housing or radio parts in this project, but those can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6107607 In addition to the stock parts, I have included a few custom made parts. Some of the early radio housings did not have the 4 holes drilled in them for the AC unit mounting. If you do not wish to drill holes into your stock radio housing, I have included a part that will let you mount the unit without drilling new holes. This part is called: Radio Housing To AC Adapter Plate.STL and Radio Housing To AC Adapter Nut.STL. Similarly, for those of you with the stock climate control slider assembly, you may mount the slider assembly without drilling into the AC unit using the part named: AC Vent To FAN DEF HEAT Assembly Adapter. The Final assembly from top to bottom will be: Radio Housing Radio Housing to AC Adapter Plate (Optional) AC Unit Top AC Unit Internals AC Unit Bottom AC to Stock Sliders Adapter (Optional) Radio Housing to AC Adapter Nuts (Optional) You will need to provide your own screws and/or bolts for this project. See pictures for the internal parts layout. You will also need to install some felt in the channels where the ball vents rest so that they stay in place and don't rattle around.

Printing Settings

This is a very large print. Just the two main plastic pieces will use about 1kg of filament (about 1 roll, $20). If you can, I recommend printing them in full without splitting them into pieces. Of course most printers are not that large, so I have also included some pre split files for those of you with smaller printers. I chose to print the two biggest pieces together oriented vertically at an angle. This takes about 10 days to print using my Creality Ender 3 Max at Fine (.16) quality and 10% infill. Supports are necessary. See pictures for the layout I used. I would recommend using ABS or PETG filament but PLA will work too. For the rear rubber gasket, use TPU filament to retain the sealing properties. Let me know if there are any issues with the model, I will fix them right away.
