My optimized dry-box set for Bambu Lab AMS

There are a lot of versions of dry boxes available, holding silica gel in the front compartments of the Bambu-Lab AMS. Nothing of the design presented here is basically new, I only brought things together and optimized them, were I found necessary to make the best out of the ideas.

Compared to Zerginator’s design I modified the version with hygrometer in that way, that it can be printed without support. Learning that the hygrometer-measurement in original design as in my first remix is quite importantly influenced be the silica gel stored right in the back, I modified the design further to keep a certain distance between the hygrometer and the box content.

Next was the idea to use the small space at the outside positions to. Kokosnuss had made a slim dry box for that space:

But I found it could be further improved by another remix of Zerginators box. As this place is not easy to reach for replacing the box, I not only modified the width, but also changed the upper part so there is a handle now to get the dry box in and out.

The next was a funnel for filling the dry boxes with silica gel. Mike Lanahan made one already:

so in first step I just created only an adapter for the small dry boxes. During use I found the funnel far to small and often gel jumped out the funnel during filling. That was the point, were I made my own funnel, much larger and with a close cover, to avoid jumping away silica.

In the design of my funnel I incorporated an idea taken from blecheimer:

So in case you overfill the dry box, it’s easy to throw back surplus silica into the storage can.

Now I’m satisfied with my box set and the silica handling and have to thanks all the designers I took ideas from. It is always easier to optimize things on top of the previously done work, so the real honour belongs to Jacky Hang, Zerginator, Kokosnuss, Mike Lanahan and blecheimer. For printing use 0.4mm- nozzle. Smaller may work, larger nozzles will not for sure.

Being asked about the hygrometer… It's a standard mount type, used for many purposes (beside hygrometer also for amperemeters, voltmeters,...). Any link would be country-specific so doesn't make much sense. It's rougly 44x26mm / 47x28mm (inner/outer size). Anything looking similar to the one shown on the last picture will most probably fit. Just search for hygrometer at amazon, ebay or aliexpress or whatever you prefer.

No supports needed, just rafts for the smaller boxes! Ignore the "floating cantilever" warning in Bambu Studio.
