Description
A 3D Zoetrope designed using the Fibonacci sequence and golden spiral.
This sculpture was intended to be reminiscent of skyscrapers, and was called "Horizon Scrapers" before we landed on its final name.
The mounting point is designed for a standard snap-locking DVD motor. It is designed with bottom slots to allow light into the chamber, which is a feature of our Hex Strobe Docks and Wooden Strobe Docks. It was then printed in Natural clear PLA to allow light to diffuse through the plastic from within.
If designing a motorized strobe dock of your own, it can also be printed in a colored plastic and bathed under white or colored strobe lights from above. Strobe Docks can also be purchased on our website at https://www.novatropes.com
The sculpture should be rotated at around 900 RPM, with a strobe frequency of ~40 Hz and a duty cycle between 0.5 and 2% (lower is better, but will decrease brightness). Brightness can be increased by over-volting your LEDs, which is only safe at very low duty cycles (over-volting will burn out LEDs if left on for more than a second so be careful).
