The lantern will react based on what your're doing while wearing it on your belt.
It will stay turned off while your'e just standing still, but the scoutflies will start to react in the lantern as soon as you're walking, showing their green light. If you'll shake them a bit too much they don't like it too much and they will let you know by pulsing red.
The software I wrote is available as well in the files tab (the .ino file)
