Description
Pole mount your Heltec V3 Meshtastic radio in the weather proof case. Mounts on 3/4in sch 40 PVC pipe which protects any wires coming from your control/power box.
this case is designed to be used with the short omni antennas (~40mm rubber duckie) on a u.fl connector lead. The spring in the wire as well as the board keep the antenna in the top of the case. A spot of silicone cured with the assembly upside down would do the same. DM for longer antenna modifications or remix them if you have solidworks (files saved in SW2022).
Because of the height, these were printed on a raft. There are a few overhang features but they are all near the bottom. See image 5 and 6 for minimum support locations. full supports would extend all the way up the antenna part of the case and are not required. 25mm support limit would have you covered.
A note on the USB cable retainer. This part (shown in orange in the section view, image 8) keeps the unit from getting unplugged from any accidental pulls of the cable (or thermal cycles with the weight of the cable on the connector). It is important that the measurement in the file name (usb cable lock XXmm.stl) is larger than the dimension in image 9. Your USB cable end may vary and there are three sizes. You want the pvc pipe to contact the case shell before the cable lock meets the cable. (images 10 - 12)
If you force the case onto the pvc with too short a USB cable lock, that force path goes through the board, the usb port and the cable. I included all three in the Print Ready Pack. They are small and print fast, pick the one that fits best.
Also note that it is indexed to the case so will take some rotating to fall into place.
Update 1: 1/30/2024
added a sw configuration for the case which has an antenna thru hole. Allows any sma antenna to attach at the cost of ingress protection. useful for larger antennas or better RF performance.
updated solidworks assembly (virtual part for case has added configuration).
added stl for above configured part. (Mast Anteanna Thru Hole Case.stl)
