Taz 6 Extruder Body for BTT V2 Smart Filament Sensor - Work in Progress
This is a whole new extruder body, remove the head from the printer, remove each of the two fans, remove the two fan shrouds, remove the two bolts holding the extruder body to the aluminum heat sink, disassemble the rest of the extruder body and reassemble with this block. You'll need the new latch to clear the BTT case attachment on the top. All the parts should be reusable from the original block. This does increase the height of the print head, so if you have an enclosure on the top of your printer it may hit at max z.
Make sure you print with supports touching the build plate only, DO NOT PRINT SUPPORTS IN THE LITTLE HOLES IN THE BODY, THIS IS BAD.
I'm working on adding a BTT V2 Smart Filament Sensor to my TAZ6, this is a work in progress. I'm still working on modifying the case of the BTT V2 to accept 2.85mm filament. Just drilling out the hole to 3mm wasn't enough, i'm redesigned the whole case to scoot the encoding wheel mechanism over 0.5mm. I'll post that when I am done.
Also, the BTTV2 sensor has not only a filament detection switch, but a movement detection as well which I think will need a custom build of Drunken Octopus to accommodate which I haven't resolved yet.
