Description

This is sort of like the inklette, or a lunchbox inkle loom. I put more holes for pegs and another adjustment slot in the middle, compared to the actual inklette. You don't HAVE to put a peg in every place if you don't think they'd be useful.

Print: 1 main body, 1 middle arm, one end arm, one base, and however many pegs you'd like. They should be oriented the way I prefer them to be printed - peg hole side up. That requires a lot of supports for the middle piece but it worked better than the other way, which I tried first.

The caps are not essential but they do keep the warp from sliding off, which is more needed at the top in my opinion. One or maybe two.

You really only need the base under the main body but there is a notch on the middle arm if you'd like to put a second one there.

I used 4 mm screws and nuts to connect the pieces (20mm definitely to connect the body/arm pieces, but you could use longer ones attach pegs which would probably add some reinforcement- I used a stick to ram the nuts in the open end of each peg to the more closed end), and a 3d pen to attach the base.

I printed this at 20% infill but I'd recommend adding more walls and increasing infill to make it stronger. It is able to hold some tension but I am concerned it might break. Will update on strength after actually making something on it. Also, it's more suited to tablet weaving, that pickup heddle is really too big, it can be used but it's not easy. That setup was just something I put together for a child to experiment with and they lost interest so it was then used to try out the new loom.

After trying it out, it seems like the body pieces are fine printed with 20% infill but the pegs do seem flimsy. So far they’re holding up. However, for the sliding pegs I’d recommend using a screw longer than the arm so it’s going all the way through because the tight fit of the nut in the peg isn’t quite enough for tightening and loosening it to make tension adjustments. It doesn't slip once I get it tightened properly but it’s a bit of a pain to get it there.

UPDATE: I printed more of these because my kids wanted some. Just for fun, I used the body STL files here and used my slicer to print them in reverse to make a mirror body that can receive the other end of the pegs. You can get better tension that way. It works ok as I first printed it but that added body made a huge difference. I don't have a way to attach the other side, but it stays in place for what I need it for.
