Description
This is an inductive load former for an amateur (ham) radio antenna. The design is inspired by the portable HF loading coil by Bob Nauta, W0BNC. See his website for more construction details. (https://w0bnc.com/loading-coils) I have provided coil formers for 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 inch long coils. How much inductance you need will depend upon your use case and other antenna materials. The wire should be between 0.04 and 0.05 inch diameter. I have used 17 gauge galvanized steel wire with good results.
The coil former is sized to slip-fit around the standard 1-1/2 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe available in North America. Cut the PVC pipe to accommodate the PVC end caps. Explanation on the hardware and how to assemble are on the Bob Nauta, W0BNC website.
