Tiny Edge - Zivko Edge 540 RC Plane

A tiny Edge 540 semi scale model. Wingspan 400 mm.

More improvements. Printing with less retractions and it is now easier to fit parts together. The new wing has a longer aileron and fits a 2g servo more easily as it sits more towards the root where the wing is thicker. A 2g servo should slide right in and is held in place by slots inside the wing. Glue optional. The servo arm hole is marked on the wing so it is easy to cut out.

The plane is still in development at the moment but improvements will keep coming. With some handywork it should be possible to create a complete model with the current files. Some parts (like the spinner) require a little post processing (sanding/filing/drilling) to make them fit nicely and a some holes in the fuselage and wing need to be cut open.

Warning, to print this you need to be comfortable with vase/shell mode settings. It's recommended to use foaming PLA, or any other lightweight filament that you prefer. I've designed it a bit optimistic with a 0° AoA and symmetric airfoil. Complete airframe comes in at around 29 grams printed in Colorfabb LW-PLA with most parts printed at 45% flow.

• Apr 5 2024: renamed and replaced all the files. No more versions. Just one with the latest improvements.

• Dec 18 2024: Major change so reintroduced versions. New parts are the V3_1 wing, aileron and fuselage

• Jan 7 2025: Added some new V3 parts – Landing gear with wheel pants and a motor mount for the longer one-piece fuselage... not tested yet

• Jan 8 2025: Fixed an issue with the wing that caused Cura to add travel moves. Should print cleaner now with less stringing when using LW-PLA.

• Jan 11 2025: Added my Cura profile for LW-PLA, updated nose cowl for testing (old one is still available)

• Jan 29 2025: Big change! New fuselage design with a hatch for easy access to electronics. New wing design, work in progress (V3 wing still available). Small tweaks to the nose cowl to make it print better with less retractions, improved design stays in fixed better on the fuselage. Removed all old files.
