Description

Another one for my sewing girl friend:

This weights are used for fixing fabrics while cutting it on a cutting mat. Many people use large heavy metal washers for this job.

Depending on the source where you buy those washers and the metal quality these washers are a little greasy or tend to rust. In addition they do not have a handle to move them around.

Some people wrap those washers in fabric and add a button. I want to provide an alternative that takes much less work.

I made this little ABS-pieces to wrap the washers and make them easy to handle. In addition i designed them stackable. Each weight can hold 1 or 2 washers. Stack them to double weight or while not in use.

These things are designed for washers with 70 mm outer diameter and a hole of about 20 mm. Use the uploaded FreeCAD file to modify the outer diameter as you need. Inner diameter cannot be modified easy as this could break stackability.

Print them with a thick perimeter (at least 1 mm) to give them a little strength. 3 top- and bottom layers of 0,2 mm are sufficient. I only tried ABS but there is no reason why PLA should not work too. Nylon would be a nice try too.

How to customize:

Just open the FreeCAD file (I use FreeCAD 0.14 and 0.15). Locate the revolution object in the model tree and set its visibility to "false" to be able to see the sketch. Then double click on the sketch located "inside" the revolution. Find the horizontal line constraint to 26,5 mm and change to whatever you need. Close and set the revolution object to "visible" again. Save as stl file, slice, print and enjoy.
