Description

This was designed to cut Arrows used with Compact bows precisely 1" or 2" shorter, The cuts must be precise and proper perpendicular to the shaft.

The small grinder is a standard DeWalt model with the thin 1mm cut-off blade fitted.

The clamp is a bit larger than the grinder, I used thin packaging foam as a spacer. A piece of cloth, possibly folded double, should serve the same purpose. The Clamp needs a M3 x 30-40mm Bolt for the hinge. The clamp needs two M3 x 20mm bolts from the top. (The bottom part should be self threading, or you can use M3 nuts if needed.)

The Base and and clamp bolts with a M8x40mm bolt and nut. The two were made to fit fairly tight intentionally. (A bit of filing or sanding should be done to fit the touching surfaces tightly.)The base can be bolted to a bench or piece of wood.
Once the base is firmly on a horizontal plane, the grinder blade must be oriented precisely vertical. Use a good square or spirit level for this. If done correctly the blade will pass very close to the arrow holding/guiding block.

As always, but especially with soft carbon fiber arrows, use only the minimum downward pressure on the cutting blade for best results. The arrows must be pushed all the way thru the hole against the measuring blocks and held firmly in place by hand while cutting. (See picture.) Once the arrow is all the way thru to the measuring block, do not keep pushing it in while cutting, be sure to keep it in place.

After removing inside and outside burs with a bit of fine sanding paper the result should be a good square cut.
