Description
For a fun, nostalgic upgrade to existing USB-C or Apple Lightning cables, this strain-relief boot will make it look like you're using an old VGA cable to charge! The strain-relief boot assembles around the cable without glue or snaps, and doesn't damage the cable.
I've designed two versions, a "normal" and a "thin" version. I did this because if you tried to plug the normal sized version into a macbook, it would lift the macbook off the ground because it was so chunky.
The models available fit four different cable types:
Each model consists of two parts - a Backshell and a Backshell Cap. Slide the USB-C (or lightning) cable connector-first into the Backshell. The connector should poke out of the precision hole in the "face" of the connector. Make sure the cable is fully seated against the Backshell. Then, take the Backshell Cap and slide it along the length of the connector until it is flush with the Backshell base.
Because of the thin wall in front of the connector, this model should be printed with fine layers. I used a. 0.4mm nozzle set to 0.05mm layer height. I also set the "first layer height" to 0.10mm, which made it easier to get the models off the raft without breaking the thin wall. See Print Settings for more details.
