Description
If you're looking for a sturdy-yet-compact ceiling mount for the filament spool holder by Hugo Huge, the please have a look at this. Yes, there are others, but I just.... couldn't make it work with the space and mounting locations I had.
This is designed to handle most 1Kg spools... even the slightly larger ones that I have seem to work well. However, I'm sure there are larger spools out there somewhere, and I had to choose between a "generally useful size" and avoiding wasted space.
BUILT FOR ENCLOSURES, NOT SPECIFIC PRINTERS:
Unfortunately, the Ankermake M5 is a very tall printer for the build volume, and the included spool holder is just excessively tall (literally on top of that), so I took it off and designed this mount to suit enclosures (that probably have a ceiling) in general, instead of the M5 printer itself. That way I had more placement options and put it in the most unobtrusive locations, regardless of the printer models used.
WILL IT ATTACH TO THE REST OF HUGO'S SPOOL PARTS?
I've designed the mount to fit the roller-spool "cold shoe" attachment point (like those used to attach flashes to the top of cameras)... I've printed two and the roller support should slide into this socket pretty well with minimal sanding/post-printing adjustments... provided your printer is reasonably calibrated.
