Description

This is a display enclosure with a mounting bracket for a 7" IPS Touchscreen Display. The specific display I used was a Hosyond 7 Inch IPS Touchscreen Display purchase on Amazon. This is a knockoff of the 7" Waveshare Touchscreen Displays. Before using this design, make sure you compare the pictures above to your specific display. There are a few different mounting designs on the PCBs found on Amazon.

The design consists of 3 parts. The Face Plate has 4 holes sized for M3x6 heat-set inserts. After installing the threaded inserts, you can insert the display into the Face Plate and use (4) - M3 x 6 or M3 x 8 bolts to fasten the display to Face Plate.

The Backing Plate has (4) holes also sized for (4) - M3 x 6 heat-set inserts, and (4) holes sized for M3 bolts used to mount the Backing Plate to the Face Plate. The (4) holes for heat-set inserts are used to mount the Mounting Bracket to the Backing Plate.

Finally, the Mounting Bracket has (4) holes sized for (4) - M5 x 8 heat-set inserts, (4) - M5 holes for mounting to a surface or aluminum extrusion, and (4) M3 bolt holes for mounting the Mounting Bracket to the Backing Plate. My original design only had the (4) - M5 heat-set insert holes since I mounted my display to the door of my enclosure. I added an inset extension on the inside legs of the bracket with M5 holes for anybody that wants to mount their display to a flat surface or extrusion. You can decide which set of holes to use based on how you plan to mount your display.

You may need to reorient the Mounting Bracket when you insert it into your slicer. I design multi-part files in Inventor and when I export them to .stl files, Inventor uses the master coordinate system. I printed mine with the largest flat side face down. This is the side with the (4) - M3 bolt holes.
