Description

I find it tricky to get the bolt installed in the Ruger 10/22. I use a large screwdriver to hold the bolt handle spring and have made too many scratches.

I was inspired by the Gunsmither™ - 10/22® Bolt Bar and by chevyfried's bolt holder to create my own in TinkerCad that I could 3D print.

This works surprisingly well at installing the bolt on the first try and being made of PLA you don't have to worry about scratches. Has a comfortable handle with a hole to put a keyring to hang from a pegboard.

Requires no supports. Very durable with only 15% infill. You could print with more infill and it will last forever.

I recommend to turn on ironing for a nice finish.

I filled in the 10/22 text with red acrylic paint marker.

See the video, pictures, and the following on how to use.

  1. Compress the bolt handle/spring and insert the tool to keep compressed.
  2. Drop in the bolt.
  3. While pressing on the front of the bolt lightly with your left hand, press down on the handle of the tool slightly and let it spring back up. This should slightly compress the bolt handle/spring back a bit and allow the bolt to drop right into place.
  4. Carefully remove the tool and the bolt handle/spring will decompress.

This object was made in Tinkercad. Edit it and make it better or tweak it so it fits your 10/22 if it isn't quite right. https://www.tinkercad.com/things/lgRROUnSTLJ
You are free to print and give it to your friends or sell it. Please just give me credit and don't charge much more than the cost of materials and your time.
