Parametric Parting Off Tool for lathe using spring.
!!! be aware:!!!
- I have made so far the tool for bladeType=bt_HBM_1_5x8_25x73 from metal with wPartingTool = 11.6
- I have made so far the tool for bladeType=bt_HBM_3_32x1_2x4 from metal with wPartingTool = 14.8
- I do not own "bladeType=bt_3_32x1_2x45" and "bladeType=bt_3_32x11_16x5", so I cannot test these. I recommend to 3D print these and test fit before machining them.
The tool is inspired by the designs of both Winky and NBR Works:
https://www.youtube.com/@WinkysWorkshop
https://www.youtube.com/@nbrworks
Following blade types have been modeled:
- 3/32" x 1/2" x 4-1/2" (bladeType=bt_3_32x1_2x45=0) used by NBR Works
- 3/32" x 11/16" x 5" (bladeType=bt_3_32x11_16x5=1) used by Winky
- 1.5 x 8.25 x 73 (bladeType=bt_HBM_1_5x8_25x73=2)
- 2,5x10x100 (bladeType=bt_HBM_2_5x10x100 = 3)
- 3/32"x1/2"x4 (bladeType=bt_HBM_3_32x1_2x4 = 4)
Machined (3D printed) Parts:
- PartingTool_Top_type.stl
- PartingTool_Bottom_type.stl
- PartingTool_QCTP.stl
Other parts:
- hex screw M5 (7x)
- screw M8 (3x) for MultifixA
Interesting parameters to change (and rerender the model):
- strengthFulcrum = 13.0; // higher value will result in stronger spring
- wPartingTool = 15.0; // higher value will result in stronger spring
- screwType = stM5;
- bladeType = bt_HBM_1_5x8_25x73;
Remarks:
- PartingTool_QCTP is the connector for attaching the Parting tool to a MultifixA quick change tool post (QCTP).
