Description
I needed more light in my small garage shop. The problem with putting lights on the ceiling is that they get covered up when the garage door is open, so I needed a way to mount the lights so that they work whether the garage door is up or down. I found and remixed https://www.thingiverse.com/fantadler/designs and added the side mount screw hole to add clips to hold my LED lights. Since the lights hang from the outside of the rails they don't interfere with the garage door and they work whether it is open or closed. I bought an 8-pack of the LED strips on amazon for about $40 and I can fit (2) 4' LEDs per track. I added a garage door light bulb socket splitter to plug them in, with it my garage door light button turns them both on and off. I also did this in my other garage and plugged them into a home assistant controlled plug so that I can voice control them. Overall I've been really happy with the solution. Print in PetG or something else that can resist heat if you're putting somewhere that isn't climate controlled.
