Description
This set of files is used for making a cover for the aft hatch frame on the Alioth IOM from https://rcsailinglab.com
There are two sizes of cover. A regular one that covers the printed hatch frame and also a LONG version that extends to rear far enough to cover the hole for the rudder shaft.
There are three formats of each: PDF for printing a pattern, SVG for a vinyl cutter, and STL for 3d printing.
All are in millimeters and are inset about 1mm from the edge of the aft hatch frame print. They both will fit the V2 and V3 hulls.
The STL is 0.50mm thick with a chamfer on one side. Print with a 0.20mm first layer and two 0.15mm layers. My printed version uses clear PETG with black electrical tape to seal it.
The vinyl version was cut on a Cricut and is shown cut from a clear transfer tape that has a grid printed on it. On the regular version there is also a 15x20mm disc you can use to cover the rudder shaft hole.
It is also easy to place an oversize piece of self-adhesive covering over the aft hatch frame and trim it with a hobby knife - no pattern needed.
Check my other designs for more sailboat parts and other stuff. The full build thread for the Alioth V2 and V3, plus carbon keel fin and rudders, and lead bulb casting for RC sailboats can be found here. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4090921-Cool-build-bro
