Description

I've seen magnetic connectors for ducting around but they are almost always for 4inch ducts. I needed one for 3 inch ducting so I just created my own, but I tried to make it parametric so others can take it and modify it to fit their needs.

I'm not too experienced in parameterizing designs so it may not be perfect but I am uploading the F3D file so you can edit it yourself in Fusion 360. The outer hose mating diameter and magnet diameter are parameterized, as well as some other parameters.

I've tested this now. Made some changes to magnet diameter to improve tolerance.

This design includes male and female connectors, and a cap (because my partner wanted to make sure creatures couldn't get into our house).

I am using two 10mmx3mm magnets for each hole but if you use a 10mm x 6mm magnet that would work also. Paying attention to polarity when putting in the magnets is important. Everything seems to connect very well.

I personally will be using this to switch between my laser venting hose, a spray booth fume hose, and my kiln venting hose. The air coming from my kiln will be pretty hot so it will be interesting to see if it lasts (printed out of PETG). But if you're just using it to vent fumes from a laser/3D printer or collect saw dust or something it will probably be fine.
