Description
Ever since I got my airsoft AR-15, a Specna Arms SA-C08, I've been trying to create a mount for a canted sight. I tried different versions attached to the picatinny rail on the upper but they were either sloppy and unstable or to chunky. So I changed completley the approach and tried making it for the **Keymod slots on the handguard. ** Now I only have the rifle you see in the photos and it has a Keymod system but I may do an M-LOK version.
Since it's so far from the head when you actually shoot I don't know if it can be effective as a second sight but you can mount everything on it so share your ideas.
It is made specifically for the angled slots that are pretty much useless since they are too close to the rail on the top to mount anything wider than an inch, at least on my gun, and that's why it is taller than other mounts.*
The locking mechanism is based on friction so it can be fully printed and doesn't require external hardware, but if I see some field issues report here I'll make a version that uses bolts and nuts.
I printed it and tested with PolyMaker PLA with 10%/15% infill on the Artillery Genius Pro and it works great. I left the GCODE I used in the files so you can have an idea of the other parameters I used. It's best to use organic supports.
Important: In the photos you can see a red dot mounted on but thats not the type I was planning on using the mount, it's just for show purposes and I realize it's too big. The ideal one would be a handgun dot.
Sadly it needs to be hammered foward when installing it due to some issue with the circularity of both the handguard and the part and it's a bit tight when pressed into the slots but I figured it provides more friction so it's a good thing at the end of the day
