Here is my insert for the board game ‘Robinson Crusoe’.
My requirement was that the insert should not only allow you to store all components clearly and safely in the box, but also provide added value during setup and while playing.
I have printed the pieces in different colours depending on their function: white is just for storage, grey is used next to the game board as a token container and black is used directly on the game board. There is a PDF with a more efficient game setup, adjusted to this insert.
All parts fit into the cardboard inlay in the game box. There is a lower level (25mm high), which is completely filled in, and an upper level (17mm), where only the three adventure printables are placed.
The lower level consists of:
- rc_setup.stl (77.5x184mm)
Fits the island tiles, discovery tokens, weather dice, round marker, wound markers, player actions pawns. Plus the action pawns and cards for Friday, the dog and the card “arrange camp”.
- 2x rc_cards.stl (63x92mm)
Once for the mystery cards and once for the event and wreckage cards.
- 4x rc_ressources.stl (68.5x92mm with half height)
For the determination tokens, resource markers, and other markers. There are different versions to suit the different variants of the game.
- rc_markers.stl (71.5x86mm)
For the neutral action pawns and most tokens (12 special wound, 6 number tokens, 1 camp/shelter token, 3 weather tokens and 18 ‘additional tokens’).
- rc_beasts.stl (71.5x49mm)
This tray has three sections, one for the beast deck (bottom), for hunted animals (centre) and hunting deck (top). I use the lower section to store the beast cards and the middle section to store the start equipment cards.
- rc_inventions.stl (71.5x49mm)
Storage for all inventions cards and display for the invention deck.
The upper level consists of:
- 3x rc_adventure.stl (94x82.5mm)
Trays for adventure cards and the corresponding adventure tokens and actions dice.
