Description
This is a remix of uski's QR plate. I modified the original in OpenSCAD for 42mm x 42mm based on the QS-14 plate specifications. The tripod I have is a ProMaster 6100 with QS-14 embossed onto the head as the QR plate model. I also added a 50mm x 50mm top plate to it, also based on the QS-14 specs. The top plate is 8mm thick to accommodate a 1/4"-20 x 3/4" screw because that's the shortest screw I could find at Lowe's and any thinner than that the screw runs out of thread socket on the camera before it's tight. I increased the hole size to 7mm so the screw slides right in and put a receptacle for a 1/4" nut on top to keep the plate and bolt together. I beveled the top of the hole inside the hex space so it can be printed top-down with no supports. The nut should pressure-fit well enough but feel free to glue it. I also plan to add some shoe/heel grip tape (a thin piece of adhesive-backed, textured rubber) to the top to help keep the camera in place. It's available in a roll at The Amazing or those online discount imported goods retailers.
p.s. It also happens to fit my cheap, unbranded tripod (pictured)
