Description
The "Deafening Horn" is an excellent design, but I wanted to make it easier to use in marches and other types of peaceful demonstrations. I gave it a lanyard attachment point so you can carry it handsfree and an extended mouth piece. It now plays more like a trumpet or bugle, allowing you to easily direct the noise away from you.
As with the original, all it takes is a piece of latex or nitrile cut from a party balloon or surgical glove stretched tight over the rear opening. The membrane is held in place by a rubber band, and I added extra ridges to keep the rubber band from slipping off. Party balloon material is generally thicker and less flexible than surgical glove material and tends to perform better overall.
UPDATE
I did some more tweaking and settled on v4 as the final version. The dimensions of v4 have been optimized for fast printing with a 0.6mm nozzle and 1.2mm wall line widths. The lanyard clip was also modified so it can accommodate string or factory-made clip-on-style lanyards.
I did a number of sound intensity tests at a distance of 1m and got an average intensity of about 109 bBA. If you blow with a lot of force you can get it up to about 116 bBA, but 109 was definitely the norm. All tests were done with party balloon material as the diaphragm.
UPDATE 2
I've added the Super Anti-Trumpet in honor of the upcoming No Kings III protest on 03/28/2026. Bring the noise!
