Description
This project came to being since the little PET oil lamps I bought did not burn long and was found inferiour.
PLEASE BE CAREFULL AND DO NOT LEAVE THIS LAMP UNATTENDED. LAMP OIL AND A OPEN FLAME ARE GREAT FIRE HAZZARDS AND NEED TO BE USED WITH CAUTION AND ALL POSSIBLE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. BE SURE TO HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUSHER HANDY FOR EMERGENCIES. I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY WHATSOEVER.
The base is a glass bottle and a metal lid with OD of about 73mm. (I suspect this is an industry standard size.) You need a small short bottle like this cheese spread bottle I used. My favourite peanut butter and mayo bottles has the same lid, but are much larger. The large bottles work, but only if you keep the lamp oil topped up high. The Wick "transports" the lamp oil up by capiliry action. This action is not capable of lifting the oil very high, so you need to minimize the distance between the oil level in the bottle and the base of the flame.
This should be printed with a high temperature filament like PETG.
The part where the wick goes thru is a M10 bolt OF 12mm or longer. The wick is some cotton twine.
The two printed parts are screwed together with four M3 x 10mm to 20mm long countersink bolts.
You will need a drill, preferably a drill-press.
