This is a front plate modification that allows GoPro 5 to use C-Mount lens
What you need:
Remove the original front plate from the GoPro
Install the 3d printed front plate
Add heatsinks (8.8mm x 8.8mm VRM heatsink). You will need 6
The C-Mount adapter is printed separately. It is made this way so you can model any adapter you like. The fusion file is added.
Print settings:
Print in the shown orientation with supports
Anything under 0.16mm layer height is working fairly well. 0.2mm does not add enough detail. 0.12mm is a good spot.
Please note:
Since we are removing the metal front plate which also acts as a heatsink, depending on the conditions the GoPro might overheat faster than it will normally. In the setup I am using it as a microscope camera it can record 2k for about 40 minutes before it reaches 77+ degrees and shuts down. Depending on the room temperature this might be faster or slower. I did some testing without heatsink and fully covered plastic front plate and the results were mixed. On average it will overheat in about 15-30 minutes. The VRM heatsinks definitely help a lot.
