Description
I designed this sight protector (lens cover) in Solidworks, for protection from airsoft BBs. It's specifically designed to fit the Feyachi RSL-18 Reflex Sight which has a laser attached to its side, so the protector has cutouts for the laser mount and for access for turning the red & green reticle illumination level knob (not super easy but I had to balance the level of ricochet penetration protection from regular airsoft BBs vs. 2-finger access), however it should fit other similar Feyachi Reflex Sight models like the RS-28, RS-29, RS-38, RS-71, etc. For the RS-38, you might have to drill another hole on the side for accessing the illumination button. If you have one of these models or other models that this could fit on, and are able to share a few key dimensions, I wouldn't mind customizing the design for those models if necessary.
You'll need to cut out a front lens from adequate shatterproof transparent material and insert it into the protector (there's recesses for it to sit in) before inserting the protector onto your sight. Align it with the axis of the lense and gentle wiggle from side to side while pushing in. It goes in tight but just use gentle force so you don't shatter your sight lens which is sensitive glass (YOU'VE BEEN WARNED AND I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU SHATTER YOUR SIGHT GLASS). I'll include a printable template soon, to help you cut out the right lens. I recommend Polycarbonate (brand names: Lexan, Cyrolon, Merlon, Tuffak, Zelux). Don't use Acrylic (brand names this material is sold as are Plexiglas, Lucite, Acrylite, Perspex) because these will shatter when hit by fast BBs.
I've also included Gcode for the Creality Ender 3 V2 or similar.
Version History:
v1 prototype without cutouts for laser mount and for access for turning the red & green reticle illumination level knob.
v2 adds cutouts for laser mount and for access for turning the red & green reticle illumination level knob, and lengthens the protector towards the back for increased ricochet penetration protection from regular airsoft BBs, but I'm thinking of prolonging it even more in a subsequent version.
