Description

These are files that, when printed, will give you a lovely little acorn container. The holes in the edges allow you to attach crochet work onto it, or fabric. The lid and the container have little slots for magnets that are 5mm in diameter and 3mm high. You may find adding the magnets is unnecessary as the fabric may be enough to keep the lid on.

AcornBot.stl - This file is for the bottom or main part of the container. You can print this right side up, without supports.

AcornTop.stl - This file is for the lid. I have found the printing results are better when the lid is printed upside down (tip pointing down), so print this with supports. The surface of the lid will not be as smooth (you won't see that once it's covered and can sand it down if it pleases you), but the slots for the magnets will come out much better.

Colour choice: If you do not want to be able to see the colour of the container through your crochet stitches (if using a crocheted cover), choose a colour of filament that is similar to that of the yarn you plan to use. If your stitches are very tight, you will see very little of the plastic container through the stitches.

Tip for inserting the magnets: When adding the magnets, I glue them in with superglue and I keep them stacked as I insert them, it makes the job much quicker and easier. Make sure the magnets in the bottom half and the lid are in the right direction so that they will attract, not repel. Once they're in, they're not coming out without great, great difficulty.
