Description
The Abschlussprofil is meant to be used with bathroom tiles. I missuse the profile as an inexpensive and lighweight frame for Posters.
OBI sells the profile in long pieces of 2.70 m https://www.obi.de/p/3349412/viertelkreis-abschlussprofil-alu-eloxiert-silber-matt-8-mm-x-2-7-m
The profile is available in different colors, and materials, such as steel, plastic, and aluminum.
the poster frame is made with miter joins. To cut the 45°deg angles precisely, a jig is used.
The jig consists of two parts. The larger one 3d-printed, and a smaller one cut from a 3mm or 2mm piece of steel.
The jig included here snugly fits on the 8mm profile manufactured by Italian company arcansas.
The same profile is sold in Scandinavia under a different name: https://wallmann.dk/produkt/fliseprofil-alu-rondalu/
My printers calibration makes Testblock02 fit perfectly on the profile, testblock01 should be tight and testblock03 should be loose.
The jig has two slots each slanted at exactly 45°. The slots meet at the top surface where the profile can be cut and cleaned with a file.
To make the 4d-printed jig withstand a saw blade while cutting it is recommended to add a steel plate to the top of the jig.
3D-printed cornerpieces hold the frame togehter. The cornerpieces can be secured to the profile with hot glue.
