Chevy/GMC Pickup Spare Tire Hoist Bumper Cover

This is a replacement for the cover mounted in the bumper. The original is secured with a thin metal retainer that rusts away and is "secured" with a cylinder that can only be unlocked using the ignition key. Until the cylinder seizes with corrosion too and you have to pry it off. (In reality, the lock cylinder and flimsy plastic adds about 15 seconds to the duration of a theft attempt.) This one plugs the hole with a simple threaded plug slotted to fit the OEM jack handle extension. No more secure than a lock cylinder, but keeps the mud out and won't rust in place.

I used my 2004 Avalanche as the model, but it should fit many other years and models.

I offer two versions: The first doesn't need printed supports, but does require holes be drilled in the existing bumper for mounting screws Use cover_extension_screw_mounted_Body (Meshed).stl

The second uses a large nut behind the bumper, but the external threads require supports when printing. Use cover_extension_nut_mounted(Meshed).stl, Nut_Body (Meshed).stl and shim (Meshed).stl (the nut and the shim do not require supports when printed in the orientation shown).

Both versions also require plug_Body (Meshed).stl which can be printed without supports in the orientation shown. All threads are buttress style, oriented for maximum strength when tightened.

I recommend a UV and weather-resistant material rather than PLA for this. I used PETG.
