Description

What is it?

This is a protective housing for Xiegu G90 radios. It contains a mounting bracket for the Digirig Mobile and some slots on the front to strap cords down with zip ties. It was designed to allow you to keep the G90 oriented vertically in a pack without bending the plugs in the rear, and also allow easy access to the antenna cord, power cord, and Digirig USB (which can all be attached to the front housing). It serves a similar function as something like the Armoloq mounting platform. This is small enough to print on an Ender 2 since it is split into two pieces.

How do I use it?

If you are reading this, you probably already have a G90 (and a Digirig mobile). To set up the housing as shown in the example, you will need the following items:

  • (8) M3x0.5x10 screws for mounting the housing (4 each for the front and rear)
  • 1ft of M-to-F Coaxial cable (used RG316 in the example)
  • 90 degree elbow connector for coaxial cable
  • 1ft power cord extension (powerpoles used in the example)
  • zip ties or twist ties to keep cords organized

What print settings should I use?

Your mileage may vary, but this is what I found works best.

  • Print both the front and back so the bottom sides are face-down on the build plate, as shown in the post image. This will give it the most strength since the print fibers are oriented longitudinally to the largest bending stress.
  • Use tree supports. This results in a cleaner print overall and used less material in my case.
  • I used standard PLA and it feels quite sturdy.

Note: the STL files posted here are slightly different (and improved) from what is shown in the images.
