Description
My wife and I needed a place for our kiddo to sleep safely while in our Grand Design Imagine camper trailer. The bunks are great, but not for very young ones that roll a lot in their sleep... So we came up with a solution: cover a couple yoga mats with a bed sheet as a "mattress" and put her in the storage space beneath the bottom bunk! The only problem was, she could get up and crawl around the camper at odd hours of the night and potentially get into something while we were sleeping. Not good. So we came up with a solution for that too: a cheap $10 baby gate! It actually came with some nice brackets to mount it, but they would only work if you're mounting the gate perpendicular to the wall. As you can see in some of the photos, this baby gate needed to mount at a 45-degree angle to the nearby walls. Thus the need for yet another solution. (And thus this model was born!) We shared this solution for our baby bed on our Grand Design Owners facebook group page and I had several requests for the STL file, so I figured I'd post it to my Thingiverse file for quick access. (If you have access to the group page, here's a link to the post: https://www.facebook.com/groups/imaginebunkhouseowners/permalink/1115980948984992)
I designed the model to accept the screws that came with the unit. I think they were something like a #8 x 1" or 1.5"? Something like that. They were pan head screws, so I opted for the flat countersink style, rather than the more typical-for-wood-screws conical counterbore. If you'd like them to have the conical counterbore or if you need the screws to have a different diameter, just comment or DM me to let me know and I can post another version of the file with the requested design change.
Whether you're using this model for babies or for pets, this little solution should allow you to mount a similar baby gate to all your 45-degree mounting locations. Enjoy! And happy printing!
