NOTE 2: V6 is posted at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7284295, which allows for easier configuration using the OpenSCAD Customizer
This is simply another version of my design at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6248315, but adds the ability to print thicker cases. Where the previous version used a 2mm case thickness, the OpenSCAD file can be set to print cases with thicknesses in the range 2 to 5mm. The STL files here have a 3mm (default), 2mm (i.e. *-2mm.stl) or 4mm (i.e. *-4mm.stl) thickness. You can also set personalized text on the side of the case by modifying a text string in the OpenSCAD file.
The cases can be one of the following three options: Pi 5 only, Pi 3 only, or compatible for both Pi 4B and 5. The covers can be for a 30mm fan, 40mm fan, no fan or an ePaperHAT. These are all interchangeable. Covers can be attached to a case using M3 (16 mm+) screws or #4 (3/4 inch+) wood screws (wood screws are easier to attach). Also note that V1 covers will still work with the cases from the previous version.
The OpenSCAD file is provided for generation of STL files with different thicknesses (i.e. t=?), setting of custom text labels (e.g. label="My Custom String") and selection of different case/cover options (e.g. 30mm fan, 40mm fan, no fan, ePaper).
There is an STL file for feet that can be attached using the bottom screws. These are optimally printed using TPU.
This version does not yet support 'snap on' covers. If you want that feature, see the previous version at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6248315. Since this is a design focused on maximizing strength, snap on covers are a little more difficult (given less flexibility of the case) and are probably not desirable for the intended application. These covers also have a slightly better fit than previous covers (7-8-2025 revision).
Also see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6260580 for accessories such as mounting brackets and feet to cover the bottom screws.
