Description
A perfect stash for some Pre-War Money, Mentats, or a few Caps. It'll look nice on a shelf next to your Grognak comic books and that miniature Eyebot model you just had to pick up.
It's my Magnetic Twist Container, remixed to look like a mini Mini Nuke. This container uses the same six 6x2mm magnets and locking geometry as the original, and features six detailed prints. Screw heads are simulated, and print with the rest of the model. Overall dimensions are about 125mm height, 60mm diameter. Segmenting lines are integrated for MMU slicers that allow "painting" faces with a fill bucket. I chose to use ABS, but this will come out fine in most common filaments. All print files are properly pre-oriented.
Print settings and assembly steps that I used for my demo model:
Filament: Polymaker ABS Grey: https://us.polymaker.com/products/polylite-abs?variant=39574342697017&aff=1186&utm_source=affiliately&utm_campaign=aff
0.4mm nozzle, 0.08mm layer heights (Lowest layers you can to get extra detail out of the screwheads.)
.STEP was loaded into slicer for best detail translation.
100mm/s max, though my printer only needed this restriction for the layer height, YMMV.
100% scarf joint.
4+ walls, 10% infill.
Add magnets as you would the original container:

Core and Fins prints were solvent welded together, though you could use Wonderglue if printing in materials other than ABS.
Minor sanding of all parts, some areas smoothed with acetone, cleaned with alcohol and a soft brass brush. Many print artifacts kept to add texture.
Kneadable rubber putty applied as masking to screws and the little sidepod thingys between fins.
Masking tape applied to locking lugs, and mating surfaces between Lid/Nose.
2 light coats of primer on all parts (except Nozzle, I chose to keep it a lighter grey.)
Camouflage OD Green paint applied to Lid, Stabilizer, and Core/Fin combo.
Red paint applied to Nose. Fins are masked once green paint dries to have the same red paint applied.
Once paint is fully cured, I removed all masking and cleaned any paint that got where it shouldn't.
Lid and Nose adhered together.
Yellow paint line applied to lid.
Thinned black and brown paints applied with a dry brush and wipe-off method to weather and age the model.
Stabilizer and Nozzle adhered to Fins.
Finally, a clear coat of matte enamel to keep all that fake grime looking as it should.
The Mini Nuke is done, and that almost feels better than tracking down Junders Plunkett.
Included files are: .STEP, .3MF, and a Fission, er, Fusion File.
