The 2025 Mini Cooper EV has a wireless charging tray for smartphones in the centre console. Unfortunately, this is not ideal for smartphones with camera bumps, so I built a MagSafe alternative. This is simply plugged into the centre console above the original charging tray. First, a standard Magsafe puck is inserted into the holder, its connection cable is rolled up underneath the adapter plate and the USB-C plug is fed out at the front end to the Mini charging socket. There is a small recess for the camera bump so that the smartphone lie flat. In addition to the STL file, you will also find a 3MF project file with PLA breakaway support for the camera recess.

P.S.: The BMW designers really went to town on the centre console. It wasn't possible to reproduce the shape accurately using measurements and even cardboard templates, as it is not symmetrical and has diverging angles. In the end, however, the puzzle was solved with a good old laser scan pointcloud.

Der elektrische BMW Mini Cooper aus dem Jahr 2025 hat eine kabellose Ladeablage für Smartphones in der Mittelkonsole. Leider ist diese für Smartphones mit Kamerabuckel suboptimal, so dass ich eine MagSafe Alternative gebaut habe. Diese wird einfach über der originalen Ladeschale in die Mittelkonsole eingesteckt. Zuvor wird ein handelsüblicher Magsafe-Puck in den Halter eingesteckt, dessen Anschlusskabel unterhalb der Adapterplatte zusammengerollt und am vorderen Ende der USB-C Stecker zur Mini-Ladebuchse herausgeführt. Es gibt für die Kamerabuckel eine kleine Aussparung, so dass das Smartphone flach aufliegt. Zusätzlich zur STL-Datei findet ihr auch eine 3MF-Projektdatei mit PLA-Breakaway Support für die Kameraaussparung.

P.S.: Die BMW Designer haben sich in der Mittelkonsole richtig kreativ gezeigt. Mit Messungen und selbst mit Pappschablonen lies sich die Form nicht wirklich passgenau nachvollziehen, da sie nicht symmetrisch ist und auseinanderlaufende Winkel hat. Am Ende lies sich das Rätsel jedoch mit einer guten alten Laserscan-Punktwolke lösen.
