Description
This is a fairly large Hornet mask from Hollow Knight: SilkSong. For the adult size mask you will need a print area of about 300mm by 300mm by 300mm. I sized down the adult size mask about 80% for the kids mask and that one fits on a 250mm by 250 by 250mm printing surface. At minimum you’ll need the following to put the mask together:
1 full spool of white filament(I used PLA)
black paint (cheap $2 bottle of acrylic paint works)
Gel super glue
skinny ribbon or string
foam tape
It’s pretty easy to assemble, just glue the antennae to the head then paint the eyes black. I found that you’ll want to use two pieces of ribbon or string, so you can tie the mask on your head using a bow. I initially tried it using an elastic string, but the mask was a bit too heavy for the elastic when I looked down, so I switched it out with ribbon. The mask should sit on your head at an angle. You’ll want to apply foam tape to the chin guard, the place where your forehead touches the front of the mask and around the U-shaped hole at the top of the head. If your nose touches the mask, just add more padding to the chinguard, which should cause the mask to sit at more of an angle. It’s fairly comfortable once it has been fully fitted and there are plenty of gaps and holes on the front of the mask, so you can easily breath and talk.
For print setting, I didn’t do anything special (.2 layer height and 20% infill), but you will have to use supports.
Good luck and have fun.
