Description
This bin is dimensionally equivalent to the Uline S-12417 11"x11"x5" stackable bin (the blue bins in the 2nd picture).
Dimensions:
Width = 280mm = 11.02"
Depth = 272mm = 10.71"
Height = 128mm = 5.04"
If you are looking for a bin that's larger in height, please see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7166056
The motivation for making this was the high cost of shipping when purchasing these from ULINE: the cost of a single bin purchased directly from ULINE is $8.40, while the minimum quantity that can be purchased is 6 bins. Furthermore, the cost of shipping in my case would be $26.14 (Allentown, PA to Sterling, VA circa October 2025), and thus the final cost per bin comes out to $12.76. On the other hand, when the bin is 3D printed the unit cost lowers to $7.70 (assuming $16 per kg of filament), a 40% reduction off ULINE's price. An additional benefit to reverse engineering and 3D printing things, besides cost reduction, is design variation: I actually needed a bin which was taller so that I could store larger objects: this variant on the original design can be seen at the link above.
