Description

I really like my Secretlab Titan 2020, but ever since I started playing guitar, the armrests began to get in the way.

I wanted to find a way to make them foldable for practice sessions, while still keeping them usable for work.

My main goal was to ensure that all modifications were fully reversible and didn’t damage any original parts, while preserving the adjustment functionality of the original armrests.

To make this customization to your chair, you need:

  • 2 x lift-up hinge
  • 8 x M6 hex-nuts
  • 12 x M6 washers
  • 8 x M6 x 25mm allen screws
  • 2 x the 3D printed adapter

Though everything is reversible, there need a few steps to be done:

First, remove the original armrests from the chair.

Depending on your hinge type, it may be necessary to drill an additional hole. The exact position may vary depending on your hinge model and chair design.

After that, use the nuts, washers, and screws to securely mount the hinges to the chair frame.

The next step is to disassemble the original armrest.

Be careful not to lose any of the smaller components during the process.

Start by removing the small screw located on the underside of the armrest.

You might need to apply a bit of force to remove the top part of the armrest.

Once the armrest is opened, you can disassemble the internal mechanism to access the large central screw.

Once you've reached that point, you can remove the remaining parts and apply a bit of force again to detach the armrest from the base.

The mechanism inside the base also needs to be disassembled. Be careful not to lose the small metal balls during the process.

The four screws on this layer are used to attach the mechanism to the printed adapter. Remove them carefully.

The remaining armrest components are not required for this modification. You can store them in case you want to restore the original setup later.

Now it's time to begin the assembly, starting with the printed component.

Use the four provided screws to mount the first layer of the mechanism onto the printed part.

Make sure that the small metal tab on the underside is aligned with the side of the recess.

Next, reassemble the remaining layers of the mechanism.

Make sure not to forget the small metal balls—they are essential for smooth movement and proper alignment.

Finally, use the Allen screws, nuts, and washers to securely attach the armrests to the hinges.
