Description
I first made this many years ago, and we have used them pretty regularly. They are simple and work well. I made some new ones cause most of the others were lost, and realized I never shared. I also made some new updates to the design.
Parts
Small screw to hold top and inner together
Assembly
The interaction holes between the top cover and the center of this are tight, I like to use a screws for assembly rather than glue or relying on clips (that may not hold up well in PLA over time), so I just take a drill bit (in hand) and round out the holes to loosen them a bit, but they fit on fine without this, just very tight. You can also use a drill bit to change the center hole in the case to accommodate the screw you use (it should be just smaller than the outer screw threads).
Other than that, just take your cloth measuring tape (sewing kind) and route it in the inner piece as shown in the photo. Then drop the inner into the case with the tape going through the slot. Finally line up the top cover holes with the inner knubs and put in a center screw to hold the whole thing together.
The small knub on the top makes it so you can reel it up with one hand. Not sure if it is needed, but I always and fidgeting with it; pulling it all out then reeling them in, sometimes one in each hand :)
