Description
Good evening,
I hope I find you in good health.
Tonight I present the fully 3D printed joystick known as The Competition Pro!
If that means nothing to you, I understand, this is a retro remake of a famous, probably the most famous 1980s era single fire button joysticks, second only to the venerable Atari CX40.
I did, years ago make a version that used arcade parts but this one, apart from 6x microswitches, is fully 3D printed.
Now if you break it playing Track & Field, Hypersports or Daily Thompsons you can just reprint the broken part.
I recommend you print the TOP, BCASE and maybe the Pivot with a brim and the BUTTON, BCASE,COLLAR and PLATE should be printed upside down (from the direction you would use them on the joystick).
Regarding anchoring the cable. I remember in the old days they would sometimes tie a knot but that never seemed a good idea to me. So what I do is use a wiretie or a cable clamp just before the cable exit hole and then (if required) encase all the wiring in hot glue like a prehistoric bug in amber (well, maybe not that much, but you get the idea). It stops things tugging on your solder joints. Here I would like to give credit to Dizzy33 who rightfully pointed out that I never explain that part, so thanks :)
