Description
The AMVP Mk.II was the first of the AMVP series of vehicles I designed, these files are for a completely overhauled version. The Mk.II is the largest of the AMVP family of vehicles. In it's current size, it is good for anything between 1:72 scale to 1:64. It has a massive 205mm main gun and a 25mm secondary weapon. The original files for the Mk.II are over ten years old, and were my first attempt at 3d designing, and printing, so they are absolutely terrible.
I've included a bunch of files, some are better suited for extruder type printers, and others are for resin printing. It's pretty obvious which is which. I figure people will be using both types of printers, possibly both together, that's what I do. I have taken a hybrid approach to printing, utilizing the strengths of both. I print all the gun barrels in resin, so they can be perfectly round. I've also tried two different strategies to building; the first involves lots of sanding and painting for a high quality finish, the second is printing them in colored plastic, and painting the resin parts with spray cans. The first method is painfully slow, the second really speeds things up, and is better suited for outdoor play.
I haven't fully completed the new Mk.II yet, I've printed two so far, but haven't gotten paint on them yet, these will just get a busic coat of spray enamel. I've added some details on the hull, witch look good, but make it impossible to sand, not a problem for resin. I also printed the hull in all one piece, I didn't like the way the overhangs turned out at all. I have included files for two hulls, one all together, and one split in halves.
As always I apologize for the crudity of the designs, I'm a model builder, not an engineer. Good luck, and happy printing!
