Spirit Level Kit for Ridgid Drill

No more crooked holes!
Even though this is such a useful feature, very few drills on the market come equipped with a built-in spirit level. So I made my own.

This is a set of two adapters designed to mount spirit (bubble) levels on the Gen 5X Ridgid 18V 2-Speed Hammer Drill (PN R8611503).

Be aware that if your drill model is different than R8611503, this might not work for you (I know, my Ridgid compact impact looks very similar, but the adapters don’t fit).

For the top-mounted level (horizontal drilling), I used a 5x12 mm mini bubble spirit level from AliExpress (less than $5 for a pack of 10).

For the rear level (vertical drilling), I used a 18x9 mm circular bubble spirit level from AliExpress (less than $5 for a pack of 5).

I scanned my drill with a 3D scanner to achieve a perfect surface match for both levels (you can even see the Gen5X imprint inside the rear adapter when looking at the model in 3D). Then I designed the adapters to match the 3D scans and the levels. The fit on the drill is excellent.

For the top-level holder, I suggest cutting a 5×12 mm white piece of paper and inserting it at the bottom of the hole to create a clear background for easier visibility. I used simple cyanocrylate (super glue) to glue the spirit levels on the 3D holders. I also used also cyanocrylate to glue the holders to the tool, but you may prefer epoxy for more durability and longevity.

I’ve been using this setup for over six months now, and I'm very satisfied.
