Folding Chessboard Box (180x180 mm) with Magnetic Pieces and Hinge Pin

This is a compact 3D printed travel chess set with an integrated storage box.

The board size is 180 × 180 mm with a height of 15 mm. The board is split into two halves and connected with a hinge that is designed to accept a 1 mm stainless steel wire as a hinge pin. On the opposite side, two magnets (D5x2mm) are used as a latch to keep the box securely closed during transport.

Under the playing surface and inside the chess pieces there is space to integrate magnets (D5x2mm). This allows the pieces to stay in place on the board during travel, even when there are stronger movements.

The model is still under development, so dimensions and details may change. Constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement are very welcome.

You can adapt magnet sizes and positions to your own hardware and printer tolerances.
