Pokemon chess set - high poly + glaceon bishop

Thanks sch00f for the original model. This is the version I printed. I did the following:

1. Imported the STLs into blender, separated the pokemon from the base. I chose dragonair, horsea, vulpix, mew and mewtwo for my set.
2. Marked the sharp edges as crease 1, to preserve them (e.g. pikachu's tail).
3. Applied a 2x subdivision to each pokemon, to smooth out the surfaces (before this you could see the facets in the print).
4. Joined the bases and pokemon again and made them manifold with the 3D print toolbox.
5. Imported a glaceon model from a 3ds game and reposed it to fit on the base. Used it's texture to make a height map, to show the different colored regions. Put it on a bishop base. This is a personal favorite of the person I made the set for.

Then I printed FDM with the following machine/settings:

• Bambu Lab P1S, sliced in Bambu Studio
• 0.4mm nozzle
• 60% scale
• Elegoo brown/beige PETG (Generic profile)
• 0.12mm layer height (high quality preset)
• Tree supports (for mewtwo I changed to 2mm branch distance, 1mm branch diameter, 0.24mm top Z distance)
• 25% gyroid infill

The 60% scale fits my 8" chessboard, but it is very tight, see the pictures. It is more comfortable to play on a 12" board, though you could probably go up to 75% scale there. Full scale would need a 16" or larger board. These have some very thin parts so if you are printing FDM I would suggest going larger if you can.

For post processing, I just clipped off supports and any drooping edges with flush cutters, then cleaned up strings/white spots with very short, careful blasts from a small butane torch lighter. In PLA you probably wouldn't need this, but I like PETG for the durability. I had some PLA ones snap on the layers in the thin sections. Support removal from PETG was a bit tricky.
